Thanks to Everyone Who Competed!

Sensei Eric Bergman, Sensei Julie Bergman & Margaret Livingston
Thanks to everyone who competed at the Toronto Wado-Kai fall tournament in Thornhill this past weekend. It was a great tournament and it’s always gratifying to see our students compete and do well.

So thank you Eric, Riley, Kymara, Kieran, Kimberley and Margaret (pictured here with her first-place trophy for kata).

The next tournament is the Oshawa junior tournament (which will be held in a few weeks).

After that, the next tournament is in Thornhill at the end of February.

Focus Newsletter Now Available

focus cover oct 2014
Toronto Wado-Kai’s Focus newsletter is now available at the Toronto Wado-Kai website.

Focus is edited by Sensei Robb Dods (my original sensei) and published a couple of times per year.

This edition provides club news from around our organization, has a feature on Sensei Carlos Garcia from Oshawa, and provides insights into how to manage butterflies and anxiety when you are competing at a tournament.

2014FallTournamentFlyer
Toronto Wado-Kai’s fall tournament will be held Saturday, October 25 at the Thornhill Community Centre (corner of Bayview Avenue and John Street in Thornhill).

Even if you don’t plan to compete, this is still worthwhile attending. The tournament starts at 10:00 a.m. If you’re planning to compete, please arrive at 9:30 to warm up.

Coloured belts compete in kata first, then the room is cleared to make way for the black belts. After that, coloured belts compete in sparring. The tournament is usually done by 12:30 p.m.

Sensei Julie and I hope to see you there!

No Class Thanksgiving Sunday

There will be no karate on Sunday, October 12. Everyone enjoy their Thanksgiving dinner!
